Prerequisite: MO 5.630 Medical Terminology and Body Systems I; OA 2.544 Medical Insurance Procedures with a grade of C or better.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Analyze raw encounter data and define the procedures and diagnoses. Establish medical necessity for insurance billing. Prioritize the diagnoses and properly link them to procedures. Understand the coding requirements of major carriers. Use ICD 9 and CPT coding manuals.
