Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Describe the major defining characteristics of the U.S. healthcare system. Summarize the potential tradeoffs between cost, quality, and access to health services for the consumer and provider. Identify the role of government in the healthcare system. Identify the sources of health care expenditures. Describe the characteristics and trends of the major components of the U.S. healthcare system. Identify important challenges of making public sector health policy. Research the major ethical, economic, professional, and legal issues confronting providers, insurers, and consumers.
