Special Admission Programs
Some LBCC programs have stringent admission requirements, which were set to administer the college’s resources effectively and to ensure that each student has a reasonable chance of success. These programs include:
- Dental Assistant
- Diagnostic Imaging
- Medical Assistant
- Nursing
- Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Pharmacy Technician
- Phlebotomy
- Polysomnography
- Veterinary Assistant
Special admission programs often require prerequisite courses or skills assessments. Placement scores used as assessment for special admission programs are valid for five years. For most programs, qualified in-district applicants receive priority in the selection process. (Note: The LBCC district does not include all of Linn and Benton counties.) A student who does not meet a course prerequisite or competency for a special admission program may appeal by filing a petition. Petitions will not be accepted accepted based on any other criteria used in the selection process. In addition to application prerequisites, the Nursing, Diagnostic Imaging and Occupational Therapy Assistant programs admit students according to rank on a "points system". Interested applicants should review the current application bulletin to ensure that all requirements are met and gain an understanding of the awarding of admission points. Students admitted to the program must also meet additional departmental requirements which can be found on the bulletin. Admitted students are financially responsible for immunizations, health screening, criminal background check, drug testing and certification fees.
