AREC 221 Marketing in Agriculture
Covers all aspects of sales and marketing of agricultural products, including fruits and vegetables, cereal grains, milk and dairy products, commercial and purebred livestock. The commodities futures market and other specialized outlets also are included.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Discuss the definition of marketing and how it relates to producers, middlemen and consumers. Identify the different grades and classifications of various agricultural commodities. Explain how vertical integration can increase the farmers share. Describe how cooperatives can increase the marketing power and survival of the family farmer. Calculate a breakeven price and solve a hedging problem as it relates to the futures market.
