ENG 221 Children's Literature

Covers the history and various genres of children's literature and focuses on defining, valuing and evaluating. Designed for students who have an interest in children's literature and for education majors who are or will be working with children. Recommended: College level reading and writing skills (WR 121) are strongly recommended for success in this course.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify the key characteristics of varied genres in children's literature. Select, analyze, interpret, and evaluate children's literature. Analyze how visual elements in children's books enhance and/or impact the story. Articulate how children's literature reflects the human condition.
