General Human Nutrition addresses the relationship of food, its nutrients and other components to the promotion of health and fitness throughout life. Examines current nutrient recommendations and changing nutrient needs throughout the life cycle.

Recognize sources of calories and nutrients from various foods. Demonstrate awareness of appropriate sources for nutrition information. Recall the unique characteristics and food sources of the six classes of nutrients. Demonstrate an understanding of how food is digested, absorbed and metabolized in the body. Apply basic dietary assessment principles to real life situations.
