AT 156 Livestock Disease & Parasites

Covers the nature of livestock diseases caused by infectious and noninfectious organisms. Includes nutritional, metabolic and chemical-related diseases as well as internal and external parasites. Emphasizes diagnosis, control, treatment and prevention of economically important diseases and conditions. Note: Course is offered alternate years only.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Recall basic cellular biology and mammalian immunity and immune system dynamics. Classify disease causing organisms as well as diagnose and theoretically treat disease. Outline husbandry practices that will prevent disease outbreak. Examine a specific disease in depth using scientific peer reviewed literature.
