Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Synthesize course material (text, lectures, documentaries, and discussions) in order to create an accurate interpretation of a historical event or a social force. Describe the history of areas that were colonized by the European powers, and how those nations were affected by that colonization. Articulate a clear understanding of how the current political, economic and social landscapes of the Middle East and Africa are shaped by their respective histories. Analyze course material to distinguish between factual history and stereotypical assumptions or biased viewpoints. Analyze historical data and first-person accounts of events, to be able to explain and interpret human behaviors throughout history.
