AT 163 Schooling the Horse I
Provides hands-on horse training experience. The student learns the fundamentals of horse training, including longeing, working in the round pen, driving, bitting, riding, rein aids, lateral work, and basic train techniques. Equipment, safety and horse psychology also are taught.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Continue all learning outcomes from ANS 222 Young Horse Training. Begin teaching a horse to move laterally using correct seat, leg and rein aids. Begin teaching a horse to move with collection using correct, leg, and rein aids. Use upward and downward transitions as way to sensitize a horse. Perfect clipping, bathing, loading, and standing for the farrier. Introduce trail riding and safety on the trail.
