DA5. 495 Clinical Practice
A continuation of DA 5.494. Principles of operative dentistry and fixed prosthetics are covered in detail, the order of procedure, hand and rotary instrumentation, anesthesia, handpieces, isolation and control of the operative field and post operative instructions are acutely emphasized.

Required: Successful completion of Dental Assistant Program fall term.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Student will be able to identify, operate and maintain all dental handpieces, hand cutting instruments and burs. In addition, specific types of fixed prosthetics such as crowns, bridges and posts will be introduces as well as learning sequence of procedures and detailed post operative instructions. Anesthesia will be covered in detail with patient safety as the main focus.
