HE 125 Occupational Safety and Health
Introduces the student to fundamentals of occupational health and safety in regard to accident causation theory and accident prevention, health and safety management, health and safety practices, hazard identification and control, safety history and legislation, workers' compensation practices, and practical aspects of complying with current safety regulations.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Illustrate and express in historical context the extent of job related accidents and illnesses and the influence of health and safety strategies on reducing them. Examine assess and discuss the students own attitudes, health habits, safety practices and personal feelings regarding occupational health. List personal, legal and moral responsibilities regarding occupational safety and health. Review and assess safety and health needs of an organization or specific case then propose appropriate strategies designed to change behavior and/or reduce risk. List the common features of an effective worksite safety program. Explain the service provided by Oregon OSHA and demonstrate how to access resources to identify issues and answer questions.
