HORT 247 Arboriculture: Principles & Practices
A comprehensive course of the study for students and practitioners of landscape horticulture who need to know how to select, plant, train, protect, fertilize and provide ongoing care for trees in the landscape. Class provides excellent preparation for the ISA Certified Arborist and Tree-worker certification exams.

Recommended:
BI 103 Dynamic Plant; HT8.140 Landscape Maintenance or other botany, ornamental horticulture and forestry related course work.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify tree structures and functions. Successfully establish and maintain trees. Access critical soil relations, manage, irrigation, fertilization and tree pest. Safety perform work in trees of various sizes. Identify potential hazards at a typical arboriculture worksite. Be prepared for entry level positions in arboriculture.
