MP 280A Individual Lessons in Guitar

(1 credit)Individual guitar lessons for intermediate level players are designed to facilitate the student's general music background and to address their skill level on the guitar including some more advanced instruction and skill training. Attention is also given to the individual's goals in learning to play the guitar and an interest they may have in learning to play particular styles of guitar music. Each level may be repeated 3 times for credit.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Read music while playing their instrument. Play the instrument using concert techniques intended for classical guitar and other genres based on the students skill level. Perform in a variety of contexts for a variety of audiences. Use the guitar when teaching music and performing for others. Play their instrument alone or with others using repertorie appropriate for their skill level. Be able to accurately read music notation and guitar tablature. Perform for others of their lessons in both formal and informal setting. Demonstrate an understanding of the guitars role in education and music history.
