PS 211 Peace and Conflict
Examines the sources and causes of violence in relations involving individuals, groups, nations, and the global community. Focuses on alternatives to oppressive behavior, undemocratic politics, and the violent resolution of conflict by exploring the ideas and strategies of nonviolence.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Articulate an understanding of the meaning of war and peace and alternative explanations of these phenomena. Critically analyze alternative explanations of uses of violence in interpersonal, intergroup and international relations. Analyze and describe perspectives on and approaches to interpersonal, international peace building. Apply peace building strategies to current cases of violent behavior.
