PSG 205 Advanced Polysomnography
Course covers advanced sleep studies and treatment modalities in polysomnography.
Prerequisite
Required: Obtaining a High School Diploma or GED, securing transportation to/from the clinical site, having a current CPR card, passing a criminal background check, passing a drug screen, and obtaining all required immunizations necessary to work in a medical environment.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Deal with issues of patients compliance with therapy and explore individual levels of acceptance. Identify sleep disorders in pediatric and adolescent patients. Demonstrate understanding of the age related differences in EEG and respiratory patterns between pediatric and adults. Demonstrate knowledge of oxygen pressure titration during sleep studies. Identify problems and issues commonly encountered in advanced sleep studies. Identify treatment modalities including pharmacological, non-pharmacological, surgical, oral corrective devices. Select monitor for MSLT and MWT and contrast MSLT and MWT. Recognize REM onset according to MSLT criteria. Locate current research articles regarding polysomnography. Define events, score study and generate a report.
