CMA 147 Administration & Finance for the Medical Assistant
Prepares students to function as a front office team member in the medical office. Requires participation in individual and group projects to demonstrate an ability to work in an administrative office setting. Emphasizes necessary computation skills to effectively manage accounts receivable, financial reporting, and the communication of information to patients and insurance providers.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Perform basic medical office accounting calculations using mathematical principles and concepts to model and solve problems unique to the office setting. Demonstrate the ability to develop, organize and utilize various scheduling and patient management systems within an electronic medical system. Interpret and analyze health information from both demographic and clinical data within patient charts using graphs, tables and mathematical symbols. Develop and demonstrate medical office management concepts such as staffing, payroll, budget and policy implementation.
