CH 202 Chemistry For Engineering Majors II
The second course of a two-course series of selected chemistry topics for pre-engineering students. Provides engineering majors with a fundamental understanding of chemical reactions and scientific measurements. Introduces students to principles, laws, and equations that govern our understanding of chemical combinations. Includes a laboratory component.
Prerequisite
CH 201 with a grade of C or better.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Solve engineering-related scientific problems with quantitative methods using dimensional analysis and/or algebra regarding gas laws and thermochemistry. Describe the types of intermolecular forces and relate them to the properties of solutions while solving engineering-related scientific problems involving colligative properties. Solve engineering-related scientific problems with quantitative methods regarding phase changes, rates of reactions, and chemical equilibrium. Solve engineering-related scientific problems with quantitative methods involving thermodynamics and electrochemistry. Apply chemical principles associated with thermochemistry and behavior of gases. Apply chemical principles related to chemical kinetics, equilibrium, thermochemistry, and electrochemistry. Perform general chemistry experiments, analyze recorded data, and evaluate the data while working safely in a laboratory environment.
