AU3. 319 Suspension, Steering & Braking
In this class you learn Suspension, Steering, and Braking systems theory for modern vehicles. You will certify on equipment commonly used in the Maintenance and Light Repair of these vehicle systems. You will learn alignment theory while practicing the prealignment inspection of suspension and steering system components. You will gain experience servicing wheels, wheel bearings and tires. You will learn to evaluate, remove, replace and recondition brake system components.
Prerequisite
Prerequisites: Placement Test scores for
ALS 100 Applied Learning Strategies, and
WR 095 College Writing Fundamentals or higher and placement into
MTH 060 Introduction to Algebra. Recommended: Valid driver's license, proof of vehicle insurance, clean driving record as outlined at www.linnbenton.edu/auto/drive_record.html.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Interpret vehicle specifications and procedures related to suspension, steering and braking system. Refurbish the braking systems for a variety of vehicles. Perform a pre alignment inspection for a variety of vehicles. Bleed and flush fluids. Service and replace wheels, wheels bearings and tires.
