Covers the importance of the disinfection of drinking water supplies and the maintenance of water quality in the distribution system. Disinfection processes include chlorination, ultraviolet light, and other options. Maintenance of water quality focuses on both chemical and microbiological stability of the water as it is stored and distributed. Required: WW6.190 Introduction to Environmental Technology and WW6.191 Water Treatment Processes.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Understand and evaluate the chemical and microbiological processes impacting the disinfection of public drinking water. Identify and apply the operational skills required for the control of disnfection of public drinking water supplies. Examine the conditions that impact the change in water quality in the water distribution system. Identify and apply the operational procedures for controlling water quality throughout the distribution system.
