Nursing, Associate of Applied Science
Students who successfully complete all Nursing, Associate of Applied Science degree requirements will be able to:
- Provide and direct nursing care that enhances the care delivery setting to protect the patient and healthcare personnel.
- Protect patients and healthcare personnel from health and environmental hazards.
- Provide and direct the nursing care of the patient that incorporates knowledge of expected growth and development principles; prevention and/or early detection of health problems; and strategies to achieve optimal health.
- Provide and direct nursing care that promotes and supports the emotional, mental, and social well-being of the patient experiencing stressful events, as well as patients with acute or chronic mental illness.
- Provide comfort and assistance in the performance of activities of daily living.
- Provide care related to the administration of medications and parenteral therapies.
- Reduce the likelihood that patients will develop complications or health problems related to existing conditions, treatments, or procedures.
- Manage and provide care for patients with acute, chronic or life-threatening physical health conditions.
- Actively participate in professional activities such as interprofessional communication/collaboration, begin to establish a pattern of life-long learning, and use of evidence-based practice; function at the self-directed nursing student level.

All program applicants must possess a current unencumbered Nurse Assistant certification in the state of Oregon.
