Analyzes quantitative and qualitative methods used to inform knowledge of and decisions about teaching and learning. Encourages students to characterize their role within institutions of learning across life from birth to old age in formal and informal settings. Describes leading theories and current research to explain human learning across the lifespan.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Explain at an introductory level the major theories of learning and development with implications for the field of education. Identify and describe methodologies used to explain how learning and development occur in formal and informal educational settings, their implications and limitations for lifelong learning. Discuss formal and informal structures and institutions that guide and assess our learning and development from birth to death. Characterize one’s role within educational structures and institutions across various life stages.
