NDT 272 Advanced Radiography

Provides an opportunity to learn the specifications guiding Level-II radiograph interpretation. Includes working with traditional film radiography, computed radiography (CR), and digital radiography (DR) to create and inspect radiographs for acceptance criteria based upon industry standards such as the American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 structural code book and American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) specifications.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate the ability to set up a parallax weld inspection radiographic shot and meet film density and or pixel value criteria, signal to noise ratios (SNR), and contrast to noise ratio (CNR). Demonstrate the ability to set up a casting inspection radiographic shot and meet film density and or pixel value criteria, signal to noise ratios (SNR), and contrast to noise ratio (CNR). Demonstrate accurate evaluation of weldment radiographs following industry standards (ASTM, AWS) and acceptance criteria as stated in the written procedure. Demonstrate accurate evaluation of casting radiographs following industry standards (ASTM, AWS) and acceptance criteria as stated in the written procedure.
