The fifth nursing course in the lecture series. Focuses on critical transitions in care and complex pathophysiological problems. Emphasizes critical thinking, communication and advocacy for the high-acuity client. Required: Admission to Nursing program.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify trends and changes in client conditions and discuss appropriate interventions. Evaluate nursing care and discuss priorities in the high-acuity client. Explore collaboration within the multidisciplinary teams in planning, implementing, and evaluating outcomes of care. Outline ethical principles that guide advocacy of the high-acuity client.
