The Student Leadership Council (SLC) serves as the official governing body of the Associated Students of Linn-Benton Community College (ASLBCC) and represents the voice of LBCC students. The SLC ensures that student perspectives are included in college decision-making and policy development while managing ASLBCC student fees to support programs, services, clubs, and campus activities.
The mission of the SLC is to advocate for students and enhance the educational experience by promoting leadership development, civic engagement, inclusivity, access to resources, community service, and student connection. Through shared governance with the college, the SLC works collaboratively with administration, faculty, and staff to support student success.
Students serving on the SLC have opportunities to plan campus events, allocate funding to clubs and programs, serve on college committees, and participate in student government initiatives. The SLC President and Vice President are elected by the student body, and additional members are appointed through an established selection process outlined in the ASLBCC governing documents. Any admitted student who meets eligibility requirements may apply to serve.
SLC positions include roles in event planning, finance, legislative affairs, student outreach, clubs and engagement, volunteer coordination, and student advocacy. Members participate in leadership training and are eligible to receive tuition grants based on enrollment and eligibility criteria.
