Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Recognize how studying Latin American literature short fiction and poetry drawn from pre Columbian, colonial, and contemporary writers helps us to understand the human condition. Interpret Latin American literature through critical reading, writing, and discussion. Analyze narrative and poetic techniques and themes unique to Latin American literature. Appreciate major Latin American writers, their subjects themes and their style choices which help us to understand the distinctive Latin American experience. Explain the importance of a certain period or development in Latin American literature. Demonstrate how an appreciation for Latin American n literature enhances their personal awareness and creativity. Recognize when information is needed, and demonstrate the ability to locate, evaluate, synthesize and use information effectively, whether working with print or electronic media. Write and speak with confidently about their own and others ideas.
