ENG 221 Children's Literature

Designed for students who have an interest in children's literature and for education majors who are or will be working with children. The course covers the history and various genres of children's literature and focuses on defining, valuing and evaluating.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Select, interpret, and evaluate Childrenäó»s Literature through critical reading. Recognize literatures role in developing childrenäó»s languages, literacy, and understanding of the human condition. Demonstrate how an understanding of Childrens Literature enhances personal awareness and creativity. Write and speak confidently about ones own and others ideas regarding Childrenäó»s Literature. Nuture a love of literature and a joy of reading.
