NUR 202A Critical Transitions In Care
The fifth course in the lecture series. Focuses on critical transitions in care. Includes content related to renal disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, high-risk obstetrics, acute complex respiratory disorders, neurological trauma, cardiovascular disorders and trauma. Emphasizes critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and supervision of ancillary staff.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Management of Care: Identify the role and responsibilities of the RN within the interdisciplinary team to provide care for clients with hemodynamic instability, obstetrical emergencies and end stage health issues.
Safety and Infection Control: Apply principles of safety and infection control for clients with hemodynamic instability, obstetrical emergencies and end stage health issues.
Health Promotion and Maintenance: Identify health promotion and self-care education to clients with hemodynamic instability, obstetrical emergencies and end stage health issues.
Psychosocial Integrity: Demonstrate and apply the nursing process to the psychosocial needs for clients and families with complex hemodynamic instability, obstetrical emergencies and end stage health issues and initiate interventions.
Basic Care and Comfort: Identify interventions that provide basic care and comfort for clients with complex hemodynamic instability, obstetrical emergencies and end stage chronic issues.
Pharmacological and Parenteral Therapies: Identify and evaluate all pharmacological treatments for appropriateness, alternatives, and risks.
Reduction of Risk Potential: Identify trends and changes in client conditions and intervene as needed.
Physiological Adaptation: Identify and engage in appropriate nursing care for clients with hemodynamic instability, obstetrical emergencies and end stage health issues.
Professional Engagement: Demonstrate and apply approved nursing standards to collaboratively develop a delegation for community-based care.
