AU3. 404 Hybrid/EV Power Storage Systems/Battery Technology

Focuses on high voltage power storage systems found in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, specifically the safe testing, servicing, and replacement of high voltage battery packs. Students will learn to identify different battery designs, chemistries, and their vehicle applications. Laboratory activities will focus on the removal, disassembly and internal testing of high voltage battery packs for Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and Electric Vehicles.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate understanding of acronyms and definitions for the following components and systems: High Voltage Battery Pack Systems and On-Board High Voltage Battery Charging Systems. Locate and inspect the following system components: high voltage battery pack systems, on-board high voltage battery charging systems. Perform testing analysis and diagnostics of the following systems/components: on-board high voltage battery charging systems, high voltage battery packs. Perform high voltage battery pack removal and replacement.
