The third nursing course in the lecture series. Explores the nursing care of individuals and families across the lifespan with a strong focus on health promotion. Explores a wide variety of pathophysiological and psychosocial health problems with a focus on developmental stages. Required: Admission to Nursing program.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Utilize developmental stages and theories to plan and evaluate culturally appropriate nursing care for clients across the lifespan with a variety of pathophysiological and psychosocial health problems. Compare, contrast and discuss normal and abnormal assessments and physiological changes in clients across the lifespan, providing examples of appropriate health promotion and education for each developmental stage/age. Identify, examine and discuss advocacy in providing nursing care for clients across the lifespan with a focus on ethics, quality improvement and patient safety. Discuss the nurses' roles and responsibilities in the compassionate care of clients experiencing a variety of pathophysiological and psychosocial issues, and the multidisciplinary teams and therapies utilized to provide safe, evidence-based care.
