Focus on writing and submitting scripts for class discussion and analysis. Studies established writers and film for techniques, structures and styles. Recommended: WR 121Z Composition I; ENG 145 Intro to Film Study, 1968-1999. May be repeated for a maximum of 6 credits.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate the skills of scriptwriting in a workshop environment. Write and speak effectively about the craft of scriptwriting. Write a full length script for screen, stage or other media that addresses elements of the human condition. Interpret scripts through critical evaluation. Participate in activities that encourage personal awareness, growth, and/or creativity through scriptwriting. Interpret and engage in the Arts & Letters, making use of the creative process to enrich the quality of life. Critically analyze values and ethics within a range of human experience and expression to engage more fully in local and global issues.
