Required for Welding and Fabrication Technology majors. Includes practical metallurgy information, an introduction to inspection, and references to code welding. Covers the importance, role, and relationship of metallurgy to the scientific and technological issues that affect societies in the United States and globally.

WD4. 246 Adv Arc Welding (SMAW & FCAW) with a grade of C or better or instructor approval.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Practice safe work habits in heat-treating, destructive and non-destructive testing, and metallurgy-related operations. Identify basic metallurgical concepts of importance to the welder on a practical level. List commonly-used types of inspection and inspection methods utilized for welding-related applications.
