AUT 301 Automotive Service and Repair Practice
Provides hands-on experience in a simulated automotive repair shop environment at the Advanced Transportation Technology Center (ATTC). Students learn to locate and interpret service information, diagnose vehicle concerns, plan and perform repair procedures, and document work according to professional standards. Emphasis is placed on safe work practices, efficient workflow, proper use of tools and equipment, labor time management, and effective communication with peers, customers, and instructors. Students complete diagnosis and repair activities on program vehicles and live customer projects while developing the professional skills required for entry-level employment as automotive technicians. May be repeated for a maximum of 9 credits.

AUT 350 Shop Skills I and
AUT 351 Shop Skills II with a grade of C or better.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Apply established safety practices and professional conduct standards while working in an automotive repair shop environment. Locate, interpret, and apply online and printed service information, including labor guides, wiring diagrams, diagnostic flow charts, and system descriptions. Select and correctly use hand tools, power tools, and specialty equipment to diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle systems. Plan, sequence, and perform diagnosis and repair procedures efficiently to meet professional labor time standards. Communicate effectively with peers, customers, and instructors regarding repair procedures, findings, and outcomes using appropriate technical and professional language.
