AUT 351 Shop Skills II
Expands upon foundational shop practices with a focus on advanced tool usage, light fabrication, mechanical service techniques, and precision assembly. Students learn to safely operate pullers, presses, oxy-fuel torch systems, welding and cutting equipment, and to perform threaded fastener repair, controlled heating, and precision torque application. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, safety, quality workmanship, and adherence to industry and manufacturer standards. The course further develops technical competence and readiness for advanced automotive service and industry credential assessments. Due to cohort rotation, students may complete precision measurement and inspection (PMI) and torque/fastener units in different sequences depending on section assignment.
Prerequisite
AUT 350 Shop Skills I with a grade of C or better.
