CRS 102 Coding II

Prepares medical coding students for detailed procedural coding in integumentary, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems. Covers the use of ICD-10 diagnostic codes as principal, primary, secondary, and tertiary medical necessity justification. Prepares students to competently select accurate Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes for supplies, medications, transportation, etc.

CRS 101 Coding I and CRS 131 Medical Terminology and Body Systems I for Coding and Reimbursement with a grade of C or better.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate competency in coding for Evaluation and Management with application of the CPT 2021 and 2023 E&M Guidelines. Demonstrate competency in procedural and diagnostic coding for the following systems: Integumentary; Musculoskeletal; Respiratory; and Cardiovascular. Demonstrate knowledge of Insurance, Billing and Coding Regulations. Demonstrate accurate Diagnostic Coding. Demonstrate accurate HCPCS Coding. Demonstrate knowledge of CPT Coding Conventions.
