Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate understanding of the implications of HIPAA as it applies to healthcare providers. Apply local, state and federal healthcare legislation appropriate to a medical practice. Differentiate between legal, ethical and moral issues affecting healthcare. Develop a plan for separation of personal and professional ethics. Examine the impact personal ethics and morals may have on extrapolating and interpreting data from medical documentation for appropriate code selection.
