MTOL 113 CNC III: Applied Machining

Prepares students to work in a machine shop by simulating a real work environment. Students work in teams to successfully complete machining jobs. Each week students will be provided with an empty machining center and a job to put into production. Student teams will be responsible for establishing the machine setup, tooling and workholding, proving of programs, first and final article inspection, documentation and communication. CNC Mills and Lathes will be utilized. Safety, communication, teamwork and professionalism will be emphasized.

MTOL 111 CNC I: MILL and MTOL 112 CNC II: LATHE with a grade of C or better.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Create production runs of machined parts using CNC Lathes and Mills. Read, write and edit G&M Code. Balance feed, speed and tool compensation for efficient machining. Demonstrate communication, teamwork, conflict resolution and attendance.
