MTOL 193 Manual Machining III

The final course in this series continues training and hands-on experience in basic manual machining. Students will machine a functioning tool made using their skills on mills and lathes. Instruction on shop math, including trigonometry and elementary algebra, boring operations and machine setup will be included in this course. Safety and skills for employment are emphasized.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate safe setup and operation of manual mills and lathes. Demonstrate knowledge of cutting tool speeds and feeds of various materials. Demonstrate proper use of measuring tools and inspection procedures. Demonstrate and apply metal cutting tool geometry and tool sharpening. Demonstrate knowledge of boring operations on a manual mill.
