MUS 117 Symphony Orchestra

In conjunction with the Willamette Valley Symphony, provides an opportunity for participation in a symphony orchestra. This large ensemble of 65-80 players performs a wide variety of orchestral music across genres and eras. Required: Audition. An unsuccessful audition will result in disenrollment. May be repeated for a maximum of 3 credits.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of context in a varied repertoire of music through prepared symphony performances appropriate for a first year orchestra member. Develop strategies to address technical and expressive challenges in a varied repertoire of symphonic music appropriate for a first year orchestra member. Read and perform music at a level appropriate for a first year orchestra member.
